Lower Monumental JFF Barge Dock Coffer Cell Repair

Lower Monumental Lock and Dam’s coffer cell, which is utilized by the fish transportation barges on the Snake River, was damaged due to daily wear and tear. Northbank crews utilizing our floating crane barge repaired the coffer cell by removing the existing concrete deck, replacing the lost rock from the coffer cell with new railroad ballast, followed by drilling and pressure grouting the bottom third of the coffer cell. Once the coffer cell was restored to a usable state, the existing barge mooring handrail was replaced to mitigate the water hazard present on the barge wharf. This project was completed within the tight 2 week window allowing the fish transportation barges to begin operation as scheduled.
